Do you have a student interested in learning how to write from the pros?

The Florida Beacon offers an online professional writing program that will not only prepare your student for a career in the communications or media industries, but it will also give them the opportunity to be professionally published.

The Florida Beacon will give your student the opportunity to write real news stories while being mentored by professional reporters, photojournalists and editors. This is not just another creative writing program. This is an on the job introduction to professional commercial writing.

The process is easy. Your students will love it!

Each Monday your student will receive an assignment as well as instructions on how to complete the assignment. Each assignment conveys a vital professional writing skill. Our philosophy is to build, precept on precept, the same way we all learned reading, writing and math.

Student reporters will have full access to mentors in the student forum. Email, chat or Skype with mentors. Get fast, professional feedback on submitted work.

Get published! Completed assignments will be published at FloridaBeacon.com. The best work will be selected for printing in our annual Florida Beacon: Year in Review, distributed at the FPEA Convention in Orlando.

Further your education and career. Mentors will assist program graduates with obtaining summer internships with local publications in your community. Each program level is a full year credit. Transcripts will be made available upon request. If your student satisfactorily completes at least one program level, we will also provide letters of recommendation for college and job applicants in the field of journalism, English or communications.
